Mount Hermon Blogarama
We bloggers stick together like glue. At the Mount Hermon (CA) Christian Writers’ Conference last week, Barbara Curtis and I sought each other out and decided we needed to host the first annual Mt. Hermon Blogarama. We spread the word to our blogging compatriots. About 35 bloggers (and blogger wannabes) showed up at 9:30 p.m. to talk blogging.
We were going to try guest blogging on each other’s blogs, but not everyone brought a laptop, and the Wi Fi shut down after a while, leaving us all Internet-less. So we shared tips and links to each other’s blogs, instead.
Here's a slideshow of some of my friends from Mt. Hermon, and below that, links to some great Blogarama attendee blogs to check out:
Actual Unretouched Photo and The Amazing Shrinking Mom - Melodee Helms (Fun, lyrical blogs. On The Amazing Shrinking Mom, Mel relates her weight-loss adventures).
Real Women Scrap - Tasra Dawson (I’m not a scrapper, but Tasra’s blog is amazing – full of videos and great ideas. Her blog has a slideshow of Mt. Hermon photos).
Relevant Blog - Mary DeMuth (Mary writes and contributes to several blogs; she recently started Pioneer Parenting for first generation Christian parents).
maxgrace.com - Bill Giovannetti (Bill says his blog is “about a perfect pastor and his flawless family”).
Christian Work at Home Moms - Jill Hart (The title of Jill’s blog is pretty self-explanatory. She has a monthly devotional for moms on her blog. Just what the doctor ordered!).
Larry's Bible Blog - Larry Wilson (Larry’s my new best friend since he invited me to submit devotions to his devotional magazine. Larry’s blog is full of practical inspiration for daily life – check out his post about his son announcing he’s joining the Marines).
Spaghetti Pie - Tina Howard (Thoughts and reflections on daily life; beautifully written).
Parenting Solo Devotionals - Doug Mead (Doug has spent 13 years in the single parenting trenches; he writes daily devotionals for single parents).
Moral Movies - Dean Anderson (An edgy movie review site; quite entertaining).
Writebrained - BJ Hamrick (BJ is the most adorable young woman I’ve ever seen. She writes with great humor).
Why didn't you warn me? and Sometimes I feel like a piece of bologna - Pat Sikora (Pat and I hung out a lot at Mt. Hermon. She’s got a brand new book about how to deal with challenging members of small groups. A must-have for ministry leaders! She also writes about being in the “sandwich generation” on her blog: “Sometimes I Feel like a Piece of Bologna”).
Happy Feet - Jon Vonhof (It’s always a delight to reconnect with my buddy, John Vonhof. He never fails to amaze me with his endless home remedies for curing toenail fungus and the like).
Goddess Worship - Susy Flory (Susy is doing a Christian investigation of goddess worship. Lots of great resources on her blog).
Mommy Life - Barbara Curtis (My partner in all things blogging – and adoptive parenting. I loved getting to know Barbara better at Mt. Hermon. To learn more about her, read the profile I wrote about her in Today’s Christian magazine).
Chatter Matters - Jenn Doucette (Jenn and I e-mail, call, and show up unannounced at each other’s houses nearly every day. It’s no wonder we roomed together at Mt. Hermon! She was unable to attend the Blogarama, but I feel compelled to promote her blog, nonetheless. She’s an all-around fun—and funny—person and a great friend).
Real Teen Faith - Suzie Eller (T. Suzanne Eller, aka, Suzie, is all over the Blogosphere, ministering to teens and twenty-somethings. She lived right across the hall from me at Mt. Hermon, and it was fun to get to know her better).
Camy’s Loft - Camy Tang (Camy is a “loud Asian chick who writes loud Asian chick-lit.” I love spending time with her! Check out Camy’s Mt. Hermon Scrapbook)
